NYU built its modern Energy Building to provide self-sustaining energy to all facilities at its massive waterfront location. The 71,000 square foot building consists of an 11-megawatt cogeneration plant, a steam generator, two backup boilers and the Department of Radiation Oncology. Because of project’s character and location, the Energy Building required Outsource to secure multi-agency approvals and permits from the DOB, DEP, DOT, FDNY and OER.

The Energy Building project required a loading dock to serve all buildings on the four-block facility. Outsource was able to secure approvals and permits for the loading dock, which was essential to keeping the project on track. Outsource provided building code and zoning consultation throughout the project, as well as securing an astounding 22 project reconsiderations.
