Outsource Special Inspections is now MBE-certified

2026 marks the year that Outsource Special Inspections, Inc., (OSI) joins its sister company, Outsource Consultants, Inc., as a certified Minority-Owned Business (MBE).

For over 14 years, OSI’s team of highly qualified experts have provided quality special inspections services for a wide range of projects in the greater NYC area. Recently, it transitioned from a Class 2 to Class 1 agency, establishing the company among the skyscrapers of the industry. Now certified as an MBE by the New York and New Jersey Supplier Development Council, OSI is primed to provide both outstanding, all-encompassing services, as well as contribute to the supplier diversity requirements on your next project bid.

Miguel Lizardo, Vice President of OSI, explains “This moment reflects both how far we have come and where we are headed. From our growth as a Class 1 agency to achieving MBE certification, we are continuing to build a company that delivers excellence while contributing to a more inclusive and forward-thinking industry.”

What are the benefits of working with an MBE-certified firm?

Recognized MBEs can help contribute to certain bidding requirements, particularly government contracts tied to city agencies, which highly prioritize MBE participation in their projects. Failing to meet the expected requirements can lead to financial penalties and the risk of contract termination.

Beginning in 2025, NYC began conducting annual reviews of Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (M/WBEs) Procurement in city-backed contracts, and found an underutilization across all sectors. As these reviews continue, the city is expected to further develop its expectations for MBE procurement requirements by capturing more subcontractor data and incentivizing participation. In the ever-evolving construction market, MBE-certified firms have only become more valuable to project bidders.

Additionally, developing relationships with MBEs can further solidify your firm’s commitment to fostering equity in its mission and culture. OSI strives to embody diversity in its team, projects, and company values, and this guiding principle has helped it grow into the powerhouse agency it is known as today.

About Outsource Special Inspections: In 2012, Outsource created its Special Inspections division, after the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) mandated that special inspections be administered by dedicated agencies. Led by a senior team of knowledgeable, highly qualified professional engineers, OSI performs DOB-certified inspections across New York City every day, covering over 600 clients. As a Class 1 agency and MBE-certified firm, OSI boasts a legacy of expert consultation, a seasoned inspections team, an efficient filing department, and a history of managing a variety of building projects.
