The Brooklyn Tabernacle
This evangelical megachurch was converted from an abandoned, historically significant theater, requiring extensive repairs.

Originally opened in 1918 as the Loew’s Metropolitan Theater, with a capacity of 4,000 seats, this theater fell into disrepair after becoming vacant for many years. The Brooklyn Tabernacle purchased the decaying structure and adjacent buildings in 1997.
Converting the space into a worship facility presented several complexities; there were facade unifications and historic spaces within the building that needed to meet certain technical requirements. Outsource Consultants providing expeditng and code consultation services throughout the project, and our familiarity with places of assembly and egress facilitated the approvals of the multi-level assembly spaces in the building.
